Reporting to Parents

Term 1:

• Meet the teacher evening
• Open afternoon
  • Parents and caregivers are invited to school to observe a demonstration lesson in reading, writing or numeracy.  Children will share their learning goals with parents/caregivers at this time. 

 
Term 2:

• Student led conferences and mid year reports
  • Children will share their new learning goals for the remainder of the school year with parents/caregivers.  They will discuss their progress and achievement against the goals set in Term 1.  Mid year reports will be given out at the conference.    

 Term 4:

• End of year reports
  • A summary of the year’s learning will be sent home
  • Student led conferences
    • Children will speak to their parents/caregivers about their year’s learning.  They will focus on the progress they have made, their strengths and achievements and areas for further development.  The end of year report will be the basis for this discussion.    

Communication with Parents

Willowbank School is committed to keeping parents/caregivers well informed about the school’s activities. School newsletters will be issued once a fortnight on a Monday via the website or by requesting an e-mail version.  Please email to info@willowbank.school.nz to add your name to the mailing list.   Teams, teachers or PTA will also initiate newsletters or notices from time to time.

The school operates an open door policy. 

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to communicate with their child/ren’s teachers regarding any concerns.  Please make an appointment (preferably after school) – Team Leaders, Assistant Principals, Deputy Principal and Principal are also available via appointment.  We make a commitment to follow up all concerns.
