Health


First Aid 
If a child is injured at school, first aid will be administered by teachers and office staff as required. If a serious accident occurs, staff will do what ever is in the best interests of the child and parents will be notified. 

It is important that our records of home, work, doctor and other emergency numbers are kept up to date. Please advise school promptly of any changes. 

Illness 
Children should not be sent to school if they are feeling unwell. If a child becomes unwell at school, the parents or caregivers will be contacted and asked to collect the child. 

Please advise the school of any health problems your child may experience which were not advised at enrolment. 

Medicines 
We recognise the need for children to bring medicines from home when they are being treated for a specific, non-contagious illnesses. The Public Health Nurse has advised us that, children requiring antibiotics 3x per day can have these before and after school – no need to administer at lunch time. Children requiring antibiotics 4x a day should not be attending school. 
  • Parents/guardians MUST complete an ‘Administration of Medicines” form available from the office.   
  • Medicines must be labelled with the child’s name, class and specific requirements.   
  • Children must bring all medicines to the office.   
  • Medicines will be kept in the sick bay and administered by the office staff.   
  • Teachers must not administer medicines.   
  • Children are responsible for collecting their medicines after school.   
  • Asthma inhalers must be labelled and kept in the sick bay.   
  • Send children to the office if they require their inhaler 

Health Room 
This room is situated in the Administration space, behind the reception area. This room is for the treatment of minor injuries and for injured or ill children to rest while their parents or caregivers are contacted. Allergies, Asthma etc. Records will be kept of students who require special or immediate attention for allergy or illness. Should your child require such attention please supply the school with all the necessary information and appropriate medication. 

Dental Clinic 
There will be no dental clinic at the school. Students will be treated at Pakuranga Intermediate, Reeves Road, Pakuranga. If you have any enquiries please phone the Dental Clinic on (09) 572 0068.
